Are you passionate about supporting children with special educational needs and making a real difference in their daily school experience? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEND Teaching Assistant to join an inclusive and nurturing school community.

About the Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of learning needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. This may include 1:1 support or small group interventions, both in the classroom and in specialized settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized support to pupils with SEND, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their full potential.
  • Adapt learning materials and activities under teacher guidance.
  • Foster positive, supportive relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and independence.
  • Assist with implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs), EHCPs, and behaviour support strategies.
  • Support pupils’ emotional and social development through consistent and compassionate interaction.
  • Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND (in a school or similar setting).
  • A calm, patient, and resilient attitude, with a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
  • Understanding of safeguarding and a commitment to promoting pupil welfare.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant or SEND-specific training) are desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position, with the possibility of becoming permanent later.
