Protocol Education are working with an ambitious and growing South Bristol secondary academy to appoint a Teacher of Food Technology starting in September 2026. This role will be paid to your Teacher M Scale. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a new and expanding school community, where teachers have the chance to shape the curriculum and contribute to the development of a thriving academy from the early stages of its journey. The school welcomes applications from ECTs and experienced teachers who are passionate about practical learning and inspiring students through food, nutrition and life skills.
This South Bristol academy opened in 2023 and is growing year by year as new cohorts join the school. The academy will eventually serve around 900 students aged 11–16. The school has a strong focus on high expectations, character development and inclusive education, ensuring every student feels valued and supported to achieve their potential.

As a Food Technology Teacher, you will deliver engaging and practical lessons that help students develop important cooking, nutrition and food preparation skills. You will play an important role in helping students understand healthy eating, food science and real-world life skills, while contributing to the development of the school’s growing curriculum.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Teaching Food Technology across Key Stage 3 (with future opportunities as the school grows)
- Planning and delivering engaging practical and theory lessons
- Supporting students to develop skills in nutrition, cooking and food safety
- Building strong relationships that support student confidence and engagement
- Monitoring progress and supporting students to achieve their potential
As the academy continues to grow, there will also be opportunities for teachers to take on additional responsibilities and develop leadership experience.
