Protocol Education are working with a welcoming school in Ferryhill who are looking for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Graduate to support pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience in an education setting while using the knowledge and skills developed during their Occupational Therapy degree.

What you'll be doing

  • Supporting pupils with a range of SEND, including autism, ADHD, sensory processing needs and physical needs
  • Helping children develop fine motor skills, coordination and independence
  • Supporting pupils with sensory regulation and emotional wellbeing
  • Using practical and creative activities to encourage engagement and confidence
  • Working closely with teachers, support staff and other professionals
  • Building positive relationships with pupils and helping them achieve their individual goals
  • Providing consistent, patient and encouraging support throughout the school day

We're looking for someone who

  • Has a degree in Occupational Therapy or is due to graduate
  • Has a genuine passion for supporting children and young people
  • Is patient, calm and empathetic
  • Understands the importance of sensory needs and individualised support
  • Can communicate confidently and work well as part of a team
  • Has experience working with children through placements, volunteering or employment (desirable, but not essential)
