Protocol Education are recruiting for an enthusiastic 1:1 Autism Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND provision in Ferryhill.

You'll provide dedicated support to one pupil, helping them overcome barriers to learning while developing communication, confidence and independence.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone who enjoys building meaningful relationships and wants to make a genuine difference to a young person's education.

Key Areas of Support

  • Delivering consistent 1:1 assistance.
  • Supporting learning and classroom engagement.
  • Helping the pupil understand and manage routines.
  • Supporting transitions between activities.
  • Encouraging communication and interaction.
  • Helping with emotional and sensory regulation.
  • Implementing personalised support approaches.
  • Encouraging positive behaviour.
  • Developing independence and confidence.
  • Supporting during less structured times such as break and lunch.
  • Building a positive relationship based on trust.
  • Communicating observations to teaching and SEND staff.

You don't need to have worked as a 1:1 TA before. We're looking for someone with the right attitude and approach.

Experience supporting autistic children is desirable. We will also consider candidates with backgrounds in care, support work, residential settings, psychology, youth work or similar roles.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
