Help a pupil feel understood and supported

We're looking for a compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support an autistic pupil within a specialist SEND environment in Ferryhill.

This is a relationship-led role where your consistency and understanding will be hugely important. You'll work alongside teachers and SEND professionals to provide tailored support throughout the school day.

The Role at a Glance

You will be responsible for:

  • Providing dedicated 1:1 support.
  • Helping the pupil engage with lessons.
  • Supporting classroom routines and transitions.
  • Encouraging communication.
  • Supporting sensory and emotional needs.
  • Helping the pupil develop social skills.
  • Encouraging positive interactions with peers.
  • Promoting independence.
  • Supporting positive behaviour.
  • Providing reassurance when needed.
  • Supporting the pupil at break and lunchtime.
  • Following personalised strategies.
  • Keeping staff informed of relevant observations.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
