Supporting Permanently Excluded Students, Middlesbrough
Looking for a role where you can slow things down, focus on one young person, and see the difference you’re making every single session? We’re working closely with a local authority in Middlesbrough who are looking for qualified teachers and experienced tutors to support pupils who are currently unable to access mainstream education. This is meaningful, 1:1 work with students who need consistency, trust, and someone firmly in their corner.
About the role
You’ll be delivering 1:1 sessions in core subjects, mainly Maths and English, to pupils who may have SEND, be Looked After, or have experienced barriers to school attendance. You’ll be part of an established, multi-agency team around the child, working alongside professionals such as social workers and educational psychologists. Sessions typically range from 1 to 5 hours per day, depending on each student’s needs. This role offers flexible hours, often involving multiple students and repeat sessions, allowing you to build meaningful relationships while shaping your workload.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Holds a recognised teaching qualification
- Can build strong, positive relationships with young people
- Has experience supporting pupils with SEND or additional needs
- Is confident delivering Maths/English and other subjects on a 1:1 basis
- Cares deeply about re-engaging students who’ve had a tough time with education
- Is comfortable working collaboratively with other professionals involved in a child’s care and education
