Some children need a little extra support to shine. That’s where you come in. A Primary School in the centre of Newcastle is looking for experienced SEND Teaching Assistants to join their dedicated SEND classroom team this September. This is a brilliant opportunity for someone who thrives in a nurturing environment and understands the importance of patience, consistency, and celebrating the small wins that actually turn out to be massive wins.

The school is searching for calm, caring, and confident support staff who have experience working with children with additional needs, including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, and social, emotional and mental health needs. You’ll be part of a close-knit team where no one is expected to do things alone. Staff genuinely support each other here, ideas are shared, tea rounds are taken seriously, and every day is centred around helping pupils feel safe, successful, and understood.

Your role will include:

  • Supporting pupils within the SEND classroom on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Helping children access learning in a way that works for them
  • Using visual aids, sensory strategies, and structured routines
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Working closely with teachers, therapists, and the SENCO
  • Building strong relationships with pupils and families
