Protocol Education is working with a well-regarded secondary school in South Gloucestershire to appoint an Education Support Assistant within their SEND team. This is a varied and rewarding role supporting students from Key Stage 3 to Key Stage 5, with a strong focus on inclusion, aspiration and personal development. Set in a green, community-focused area, the school is known for combining high academic standards with strong pastoral care. Staff work collaboratively, feel well supported and share a clear commitment to helping every young person succeed.

The role

Working under the guidance of the SENDCo, you will deliver targeted SEND support across the school. Your work will help students build confidence, independence and resilience, both in and beyond the classroom.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and delivering 1:1 and small-group SEND interventions
  • Supporting students in lessons and around the school site
  • Contributing to the Assess–Plan–Do–Review process and monitoring progress
  • Building positive relationships with students, families, staff and external professionals
  • Supporting teachers with planning, resources and SEND documentation
  • Promoting positive behaviour, wellbeing and safety across the school

About you

This role would suit someone who is calm, organised and genuinely committed to supporting young people with additional needs. You will bring:

  • A good standard of education, including English and Maths
  • Experience working with young people with SEND
  • Confidence supporting secondary-age students
  • Strong communication skills, patience and empathy
  • An understanding of effective interventions and the use of data to measure impact

Additional SEND training or experience with provision mapping tools is desirable, but not essential.
