We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a child with high and complex needs in a welcoming school in Colchester. The successful candidate will provide individualised, one-to-one support throughout the school day, working closely with the class teacher and wider support team to ensure the child’s safety, wellbeing, and access to learning.
Key Responsibilities
- Providing consistent 1:1 support for a child with high SEN needs
- Supporting with PEG feeding (training can be provided if required)
- Assisting with personal care in a respectful and dignified manner
- Supporting communication, emotional regulation, and engagement in learning
- Maintaining a calm, safe, and nurturing environment at all times
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working with children with high or complex needs
- Experience or willingness to support PEG feeding and personal care
- A calm, patient, and nurturing character
- Ability to build trusting relationships and respond sensitively to individual needs
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
