Whether you're a graduate exploring a future in teaching, an experienced education professional, or someone who enjoys working with young people, this could be the perfect next step.
What you'll be doing
No two days are quite the same, and that's part of the appeal. As a Cover Supervisor, you'll step into classrooms when teachers are absent, delivering pre-prepared lessons and ensuring students stay engaged with their learning. Your focus will be on maintaining a positive atmosphere, supporting behaviour expectations, and helping students make the most of every lesson. You'll:

- Deliver lesson materials provided by teaching staff
- Encourage participation and positive behaviour
- Support students with their learning where appropriate
- Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures
- Provide clear feedback to teachers following lessons
- Build strong relationships with students and staff
What we're looking for
You don't need to be a qualified teacher, but you do need confidence, resilience, and a genuine interest in supporting young people. You will be someone who:
- Enjoys working with secondary-aged students
- Can communicate clearly and professionally
- Stays calm under pressure
- Has strong classroom presence and behaviour management skills
- Is adaptable and quick to think on your feet
- Has experience working with young people, education, coaching, mentoring, youth work, or similar settings
Why this role?
Cover supervision is one of the best ways to gain real classroom experience without the planning and marking responsibilities of a teaching role. It's ideal for aspiring teachers, graduates, sports coaches, youth workers, and education professionals looking for flexibility. You will gain:
- Valuable experience across different schools and subjects
- Insight into classroom management and school life
- Opportunities to progress into teaching, pastoral, or support roles
- Ongoing professional development and training
- Flexible working options to suit your lifestyle
