Be part of a team that changes children's lives every single day. Protocol Education is recruiting a Children's Occupational Therapist to join a specialist educational provision in South Shields supporting pupils with a range of complex additional needs. This is an exciting opportunity to work with children with Autism (ASC), SLD, PMLD, physical disabilities, developmental coordination difficulties and sensory processing needs, helping them maximise their independence, participation and confidence through tailored therapeutic interventions. Paediatric OTs work closely with education professionals to improve functional outcomes and participation in school activities.

  • September 2026 start
  • Monday-Friday
  • Working hours between 8:30am-4:00pm and 8:30am-4:30pm
  • Term-time only
  • Long-term opportunity with permanent potential

Your responsibilities

  • Assessing pupils' functional, sensory and motor needs
  • Delivering individual and group therapy sessions
  • Creating personalised intervention programmes
  • Supporting pupils with fine motor, self-care and sensory regulation skills
  • Working alongside teachers, Speech and Language Therapists and families
  • Maintaining accurate clinical records and contributing to EHCP reviews

What we're looking for

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Passion for supporting children with SEND
