We are seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in a school setting. The role involves working closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other support staff to ensure students receive tailored support that enables them to access the curriculum and make progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one or small‑group support to pupils with SEND, including ASC, ADHD, SEMH, or learning difficulties.
- Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans.
- Support pupils with classroom activities, ensuring they remain engaged and on task.
- Help create a positive, inclusive, and safe learning environment.
- Adapt learning materials to meet the needs of individual pupils.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and external professionals.
- Monitor and record pupil progress and report concerns to the class teacher or SENCO.
- Support pupils with personal care needs if required.
Skills & Requirements
- Experience working with children with SEND (school or care setting).
- Strong communication and behaviour‑management skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
