Are you a dedicated Teaching Assistant with British Sign Language (BSL) skills looking to make a meaningful difference in the classroom?

We are currently seeking a compassionate and enthusiastic BSL Teaching Assistant to support pupils with hearing impairments at a welcoming school in the Southfields area. This is a rewarding opportunity to help students access learning, build confidence, and achieve their full potential within an inclusive educational environment.

The Role

As a BSL Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide classroom support to pupils who use British Sign Language (BSL).
  • Facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers.
  • Support learning activities on a one-to-one and small group basis.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social development.
  • Work closely with teaching staff and specialist support teams.
  • Assist with the implementation of individual learning plans.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds a BSL qualification (Level 2 or above preferred).
  • Has experience working with children or young people with hearing impairments.
  • Possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Is patient, caring, and committed to inclusive education.
  • Can build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant is desirable but not essential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
