We’re looking for a compassionate Teaching Assistant fluent in British Sign Language (BSL) to support a secondary-aged pupil with hearing loss at a welcoming school in Stockton. This is a full-time role starting in September, perfect for someone who thrives on one-to-one support and meaningful connection.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting a pupil who communicates primarily through BSL
  • Helping them access learning across the curriculum
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt lessons
  • Creating an inclusive, engaging environment
  • Championing the student’s confidence, wellbeing, and independence

Qualifications

  • BSL Level 2 (or above) – essential
  • Experience working with children or young people
  • Calm, patient and great at building rapport
  • A team player who’s proactive and positive
  • Able to adapt and problem-solve in the moment
