We’re working with a number of secondary schools across Bristol who need reliable PE teachers and sports coaches for daily supply and short-term cover. This role suits someone who enjoys variety and wants regular work without committing to a long-term contract. You’ll cover planned and last‑minute absences, delivering PE lessons, supervising practical sessions, and maintaining clear behaviour expectations in line with each school’s policies.
The role:
- Daily supply and short‑term PE cover in secondary schools
- Delivering practical and theory‑based PE lessons where required
- Managing classes confidently and keeping pupils engaged and safe
- Following lesson plans set by the department and feeding back to staff
Pay:
- From £100 per day for unqualified educators or sports coaches
- From £130 per day for qualified PE teachers (QTS)
- Final rates depend on experience, responsibilities, and the booking
What we’re looking for:
- Qualified PE teachers, or experienced sports coaches with secondary school experience
- Strong behaviour management and clear communication skills
- Confidence working with KS3 and KS4 pupils
- Flexibility and a professional approach to different school settings
Travel:
- Drivers are preferred due to school locations
- Public transport is absolutely fine if you’re happy travelling across Bristol
This is a good opportunity to gain experience in a range of schools, build your confidence in different environments, and keep your working week flexible. You’ll be supported by a local consultant who knows the schools and keeps communication clear and straightforward. If you’re not already Thrive trained, we can also offer free Thrive training, which many schools value highly and often request.
