Protocol Education is working closely with supportive schools across BS9 to find experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistants who love making a meaningful difference in Key Stage 1 classrooms. These roles are perfect for HLTAs who enjoy supporting early learners, building strong foundations and helping children grow in confidence, curiosity and independence through thoughtful, consistent support.

You’ll be supporting pupils across KS1, working one-to-one, in small groups and, where required, leading whole-class learning during PPA time or in the teacher’s absence. You’ll help plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons, support early reading, writing and number skills, and adapt learning to meet individual needs, particularly for pupils who benefit from routine, reassurance and hands-on learning. You’ll be joining schools with inclusive, positive cultures where teamwork, trust and staff wellbeing are genuinely valued.

Pay: £92 to £94 per day

A bit about you:
  • HLTA status or significant experience working at HLTA level
  • Confident supporting children aged 5 to 7
  • Comfortable leading learning and covering lessons when required
  • Calm, patient and encouraging in your approach
  • Able to adapt learning to support a range of needs, including SEND
  • A warm, positive and professional presence in school
What we need to clear you:
  • Passport
  • Two proofs of address, such as driving licence, utility bill, council tax, P45 or P60
  • CV covering the last 10 years, with any gaps explained
  • Two years of references, including childcare where applicable
  • OSP C if you have lived overseas for three months or more in the last five years
