Some children need a little extra support to access learning and thrive in school. We're working with a welcoming and ambitious primary school in South Gloucestershire seeking a dedicated Education Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a pupil with additional learning needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to build a positive, supportive relationship with a child and play a key role in helping them succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
The role
- You'll work closely with teachers and SEND professionals to ensure your designated pupil can fully access learning, develop confidence, and make meaningful progress throughout their school journey.
- Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Delivering targeted learning activities to support literacy, numeracy, and wider curriculum outcomes
- Supporting the implementation of EHCP targets and individual support strategies
- Delivering pre-planned interventions and small group activities when required
- Monitoring progress and providing feedback to teaching staff
- Using a range of approaches and resources to support engagement and independence
- Supporting positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and social development
- Assisting during breaktimes, educational visits, and wider school activities
