Key Responsibilities
- Direct Student Support: Provide individualized or small group support in lessons, helping students access learning and develop life skills.
- Build Relationships: Act as a positive role model, fostering trust and empowering students to overcome challenges.
- Develop Strategies: Create and implement action plans, behaviour management techniques, and personalized learning strategies for students with SEN.
- Liaise & Collaborate: Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, parents, and external agencies (psychologists, social workers) to ensure holistic support.
- Monitor Progress: Keep detailed records, track attendance, and report on student progress and well-being.
- Promote Independence: Aim to reduce reliance on the mentor by teaching self-advocacy and coping mechanisms.
