Key Responsibilities

  • Direct Student Support: Provide individualized or small group support in lessons, helping students access learning and develop life skills.
  • Build Relationships: Act as a positive role model, fostering trust and empowering students to overcome challenges.
  • Develop Strategies: Create and implement action plans, behaviour management techniques, and personalized learning strategies for students with SEN.
  • Liaise & Collaborate: Work closely with SENCOs, teachers, parents, and external agencies (psychologists, social workers) to ensure holistic support.
  • Monitor Progress: Keep detailed records, track attendance, and report on student progress and well-being.
  • Promote Independence: Aim to reduce reliance on the mentor by teaching self-advocacy and coping mechanisms.

  • Supporting students with additional needs in mainstream settings.
  • Running targeted interventions for specific learning or social challenges.
  • Addressing social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
  • Organizing and leading extracurricular or out-of-school activities.
