Protocol Education is working with a specialist SEMH and Alternative Provision setting in South Shields seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team for the new academic year. This role is ideal for candidates looking to build a long-term career within SEND, SEMH, or pastoral support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students aged 11–16
  • Delivering mentoring and intervention sessions
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and attendance
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation strategies
  • Assisting with classroom learning and engagement
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and families

Working Pattern:

  • Monday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
  • Tuesday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
  • Wednesday: 8:30am – 3:45pm
  • Thursday: 8:30am – 4:15pm
  • Friday: 8:30am – 3:15pm

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience working with young people in education, youth work, care, coaching or mentoring
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Resilient, patient and adaptable approach
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply and pay for one
  • Full-time applicants only
