A specialist PRU in South Shields is looking to appoint a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to support pupils who require additional behavioural and emotional support. The setting provides a structured and supportive environment focused on helping students re‑engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.
Main Duties:
- Providing classroom‑based support
- Working with pupils on a 1:1 basis
- Supporting behaviour and emotional regulation plans
- Encouraging engagement with learning activities
- Supporting social skills development
- Working alongside external agencies where required
Hours:
- Monday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
- Tuesday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
- Wednesday: 8:30am – 3:45pm
- Thursday: 8:30am – 4:15pm
- Friday: 8:30am – 3:15pm
Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting challenging behaviour desirable
- Ability to remain calm under pressure
- Full‑time availability
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply and pay for one
