A specialist SEN school in Barnet is currently recruiting a full‑time Behaviour Mentor to support children and young people with Autism (ASD), social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs, and additional learning needs. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning, build confidence, and feel positive about education again. Responsibilities
- Support students on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Help pupils regulate emotions and engage positively within school
- Manage challenging behaviour using calm and consistent strategies
- Build strong and trusting relationships with students
- Support students both inside and outside of the classroom
- Encourage communication, confidence, and social development
- Work closely with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals
- Create a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
Qualifications
- Experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH, or behavioural needs
- A patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- A genuine passion for supporting young people
- The ability to stay calm under pressure and build positive relationships
- All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service
