Behaviour & Belonging Mentor

Location: Sunderland
Contract: Full-time, Long-term, daily and part time work available
Start Date: Immediate

Are you someone who believes that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and understood?

We’re searching for a Behaviour & Belonging Mentor to work in a specialist provision in Sunderland supporting pupils with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The school’s approach is rooted in patience, consistency, and care — helping every young person feel part of something positive.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils in small groups or 1:1 with behaviour and engagement
  • Building trust and developing strategies that support positive choices
  • Working alongside teachers, pastoral leads, and therapists
  • Using restorative and relational approaches to behaviour management
  • Encouraging self-esteem, resilience, and reflection

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEMH or additional needs
  • A calm, empathetic, and solution-focused approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A genuine passion for making a difference

Thrive training is a plus, and it’s free with us if you haven’t completed it yet.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
