About the Role
If you’re a Psychology graduate and keen to put your skills to good use in a real school environment, this is a brilliant next step. We’re looking for someone who can support pupils across Newcastle, especially young people who benefit from consistent emotional, behavioural, or learning support. It’s hands-on, meaningful, and perfect if you’re exploring careers in educational psychology, SEND, youth work, or mental health.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups, including those with SEMH needs, ADHD or other additional needs
- Helping with observations, note taking, and contributing to pupil assessments
- Putting in place strategies created by SENCOs and psychologists
- Helping pupils access learning, from literacy and numeracy to social skills
- Working closely with teachers, support staff, and external professionals

- Psychology degree or closely related subject
- A real desire to work with children and young people
- Brilliant communication, patience, and a positive mindset
- Resilience and empathy in bucketloads
- Willingness to learn new techniques used in school settings
- DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
