Are you passionate about supporting young people with their mental health and emotional wellbeing? A specialist SEN unit in Barnet is currently recruiting a full-time Mental Health Worker to support children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs within a supportive and structured environment. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can build positive relationships, remain calm under pressure, and help students feel safe, understood, and ready to engage with learning.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting students with SEMH and additional needs on a 1:1 and small group basis
- Helping young people develop emotional regulation and positive coping strategies
- Managing challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support techniques
- Building strong and trusting relationships with students
- Supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom
- Working closely with teachers, support staff, families, and external professionals
- Creating a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or mental health needs
- A calm, patient, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and behaviour management skills
- A genuine passion for supporting young people to thrive
- Previous experience within schools, youth work, care, or support work is desirable

Employment Terms:
This is a temporary position, with the possibility of the role becoming permanent at a later date. Pay rates quoted are inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
