Teacher of Music (Permanent) Secondary School – Barking

Start Date: April/September 2026 (or earlier by negotiation)

Contract: Permanent, Full Time

Salary: MPS/UPS (Outer London), dependent on experience

We are seeking to appoint a creative and enthusiastic Teacher of Music to join our vibrant and forward-thinking Creative Arts faculty at a thriving secondary school in the London Borough of Barking. This role would suit an ECT or an experienced teacher who is passionate about music education and committed to fostering students’ musical skills, creativity, and confidence.

The Role

  • Teach Music across KS3 and KS4 (KS5 opportunities may be available for suitable candidates)
  • Plan and deliver engaging, practical, and inclusive lessons in performance, composition, and listening
  • Contribute to the development of a rich and ambitious Music curriculum
  • Support and promote extra-curricular music activities such as choirs, ensembles, or school productions
  • Use assessment effectively to support progress and raise attainment

The Ideal Candidate Will

  • Hold QTS (or be on track to achieve it)
  • Have strong subject knowledge and musical expertise (vocal and/or instrumental)
  • Be passionate about inspiring young people through Music
  • Be committed to high standards, inclusion, and student participation
  • Work collaboratively within the department and wider school community
