Are you a Psychology graduate or Art graduate eager to make a real difference in children’s lives? We’re looking for dedicated, compassionate individuals to join our team as Learning Support Assistants (LSA) across Newcastle and North Tyneside. This full-time role is the perfect stepping stone for aspiring psychologists, art therapists, or anyone looking to enter the field of SEND education.
What You\'ll Do:
Provide one-on-one or small-group support for students with SEND, assisting them with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and academic tasks.
Support students who may have autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and emotional challenges, and help them develop coping strategies and self-regulation skills.
Work with teachers and support staff to create and implement personalized progress plans for each student.
Help students express themselves and manage their emotions – for Art graduates, this could include supporting creative projects that tap into therapeutic activities or art expression.
Build strong, supportive relationships with students, teachers, and external professionals.
What We’re Looking For:
Psychology graduates with an interest in clinical or educational psychology or Art graduates eager to pursue a career in art therapy.
A genuine passion for working with children with SEND, and the ability to build trust and provide support in challenging situations.
Patience, reliability, and strong communication skills.
A desire to pursue a future career in psychology or art therapy, using your degree to make a lasting impact on children’s lives.
No prior experience with SEND is required – though any experience with SEND, art, or therapy will be a bonus.
A valid DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) and the right to work in the UK.
