We are working with a welcoming and well-resourced SEND school in Hackney that is seeking a dedicated ASC Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis. This school supports children and young people with autism and complex needs, offering a calm, structured, and nurturing environment where pupils are supported to thrive in their own way. This role is ideal for someone patient, consistent, and passionate about supporting pupils who experience the world a little differently.
What you’ll be doing:
- Supporting pupils with ASC within a specialist SEND school setting
- Helping students access learning through structure, routine, and visual supports
- Providing one-to-one and small-group support tailored to individual needs
- Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
- Building pupils’ confidence, independence, and engagement in learning
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, and SEN professionals
- Acting as a calm, reliable, and trusted presence in the classroom
- Monitoring progress and contributing to reviews and support plans
You’ll need:
- Experience supporting children or young people with ASC and/or SEND
- A calm, patient, and positive approach
- Confidence supporting behaviour and emotional regulation
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliability and commitment to a full-time, long-term role
- Thrive training is highly desirable (or willingness to complete – free training provided)
- A valid DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
