Contract: Full-time, Long-term
Start Date: Immediate

Are you the kind of person who brings energy, positivity, and initiative into every classroom?

We’re looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming secondary school in Newcastle. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys getting stuck in, building relationships, and helping young people reach their potential both inside and outside the classroom.

You’ll work closely with teachers and pastoral staff to support learning, behaviour, and wellbeing — providing a steady, encouraging presence that helps pupils stay focused, confident, and motivated.

A background or interest in sport, fitness, or active learning would be a great bonus, as the school values hands‑on, engaging approaches that get students moving and involved.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils across lessons to stay engaged and make progress
  • Providing 1:1 or small group support to help students meet their learning goals
  • Encouraging participation, teamwork, and confidence-building activities
  • Assisting with behaviour support and promoting a positive learning environment
  • Helping teachers deliver lessons that are dynamic, inclusive, and accessible to all

What we’re looking for:

  • A proactive, upbeat approach and the confidence to take initiative
  • Experience supporting children or young people in education, youth work, or similar settings
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to make a difference
  • An interest in sport, wellbeing, or active learning (advantageous but not essential)

Bonus points if you’re Thrive-trained – if not, we’ll provide it free through our exclusive training to help you support emotional wellbeing and development.

Why join Protocol Education?

  • Weekly pay through PAYE (no umbrella companies)
  • Free CPD and Thrive training to boost your skills
  • Ongoing support from your dedicated consultant
  • Opportunities to progress into pastoral, mentoring, or teaching roles

If you’re an energetic, hands‑on individual who thrives on helping young people succeed, this could be the perfect role for you.

Apply today and bring your active, positive energy to a fantastic school in Newcastle!

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
