We are looking for a caring and committed Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a primary-aged child with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) at a welcoming school in Bradley Stoke. This role will involve helping the pupil access learning, supporting their social and emotional development, and working closely with class teachers and the school's SEN team to ensure they can thrive in the classroom.
The role
- Providing dedicated 1:1 support throughout the school day
- Assisting the child with learning activities and classroom routines
- Encouraging positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Building a trusting, consistent relationship with the pupil
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents where appropriate
What we’re looking for
- Previous experience supporting children with SEN, particularly in a 1:1 capacity, is preferred.
- Experience working with children with additional needs
- A patient, calm, and supportive approach
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- The ability to build positive relationships and maintain clear boundaries
- Experience in schools, care settings, youth work, or similar support roles would be beneficial.
Essential compliance requirements
- An enhanced child-only DBS on the Update Service, or be willing to obtain one
- Two years of reference history covering employment, education, or other relevant experience
- The right to work in the UK
