A welcoming and inclusive primary school in Jesmond is looking for a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team and support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, SEMH needs and learning differences.

Location: Jesmond, Newcastle upon Tyne
Pay: £92.63 - £102 per day
Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
Contract: Full-Time, Long-Term

About the Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you'll work closely with class teachers, the SENDCo and wider support staff to provide tailored support for pupils who require additional assistance to access learning.

You'll play a key role in helping pupils build confidence, develop social skills and achieve their individual learning goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
  • Providing 1:1 support and small-group interventions
  • Assisting children with Autism (ASC), ADHD, communication needs and SEMH challenges
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour strategies
  • Helping pupils engage with classroom learning activities
  • Encouraging confidence, independence and social development
  • Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
  • Supporting the implementation of EHCP targets and intervention plans
