Protocol Education is recruiting Graduate Teaching Assistants for a school in North Durham , supporting pupils who may need additional help with behaviour, emotional regulation, communication and learning.
This could be an excellent first step for graduates looking to build experience before pursuing careers in Psychology, Teaching, Youth Justice, SEND, Mental Health or Social Care .
What Will You Do?
You'll work alongside teachers and support staff to help pupils:
- Regulate emotions
- Manage behaviour positively
- Engage with their learning
- Build confidence
- Develop communication skills
- Develop independence
- Form positive relationships
- Overcome barriers to learning
You could be supporting pupils 1:1, in small groups or within the wider classroom .
Your Background Could Be Valuable
A degree in Psychology, Criminology, Sociology, Youth Work or a related subject can give you an understanding of behaviour and the factors that influence it.
You'll now have the chance to develop that knowledge through genuine, hands‑on experience.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
