Where We Need You:
Protiviti’s Business Performance Improvement practice specialises in helping organisations enhance operational efficiency, optimise processes, and achieve better financial outcomes. We support our clients with finance, operational and technology transformation, intelligent automation, and people and change management. From process tweaks to major organisational structure optimisation, back office to external reporting, cost reduction to working capital issues, we apply innovation, collaboration, and technology acumen to bring best-in-class solutions to your problems.
What You Can Expect:
As a Senior Manager in our Finance Transformation practice, you will take ownership of the full delivery lifecycle across multiple concurrent client engagements, holding accountability for commercial outcomes, client satisfaction, and quality of output. You will manage relationships at CFO and Finance Director level, lead and develop a team of Managers, Senior Consultants, and Consultants, and play an active role in growing the practice through business development and thought leadership.
You will work across a diverse client base spanning PE-backed businesses, mid-market and FTSE-listed corporates, and large organisations in financial services, real estate, energy, and professional services. This is a senior client-facing role that demands both deep technical credibility in Finance Transformation and the commercial instinct to identify and develop opportunities alongside delivering them.
The work
You will lead the design and delivery of engagements across a range of Finance Transformation projects, including:
Shared services centre (SSC) transitions and outsourcing readiness, including process standardisation, roles and responsibilities design, and go-live support
Finance target operating model design, covering people, process, technology, data, and controls across P2P, O2C, and R2R
Finance process optimisation and efficiency reviews, including current-state diagnostics, gap analysis, and improvement roadmaps
FP&A and performance reporting transformation, including planning process redesign, management information improvement, and budgeting and forecasting optimisation
Automation and technology enablement, including RPA business case development, process mining, and ERP-adjacent transformation
AI in Finance assessments and implementation readiness, including use case prioritisation and business case development, finance copilot readiness, agentic automation opportunity assessment, and AI governance and controls design within a finance function context
Finance function benchmarking and maturity assessments against industry best practice
Post-acquisition finance integration and carve-out support, particularly relevant to our PE-backed client base
Key responsibilities:
Delivery and client management
Own the full delivery of multiple concurrent Finance Transformation engagements, with accountability for scope, budget, timeline, and quality of output
Serve as the lead client relationship holder at CFO and Finance Director level, maintaining trusted senior relationships throughout and beyond the engagement lifecycle
Oversee engagement governance including project plans, status reporting, risk and issue logs, and client steering updates, escalating and resolving issues as they arise
Lead and review the design of target operating models, process improvement programmes, and future-state recommendations across finance functions
Review and quality-assure all client deliverables including findings reports, roadmaps, business cases, and proposals, ensuring outputs meet the standard expected of a senior Protiviti engagement
Identify and clearly articulate opportunities for process improvement, automation, and technology enablement, with evidence of outcomes delivered in comparable environments
Lead client conversations on emerging technology and AI in Finance, helping senior stakeholders understand the opportunity landscape, prioritise use cases, and develop a credible path to implementation
Lead workshops and senior client sessions, facilitating complex or contentious discussions with confidence and credibility
People and team
Lead, manage, and develop a team of Managers, Senior Consultants, and Consultants across active engagements, providing structured feedback, coaching, and development opportunities
Take an active role in the broader development of the BPI team, including contributing to training, internal knowledge sharing, and practice-building initiatives
Support the recruitment and onboarding of new team members as the practice grows
Business development
Lead the development of proposals and bid materials for new and existing client opportunities, working closely with Managing Directors to shape the commercial offer

Identify opportunities to expand Protiviti's footprint with existing clients across the BPI and broader firm service offering
Contribute to Protiviti thought leadership, white papers, and market-facing materials in the Finance Transformation space
Support Managing Directors in managing key client relationships and driving revenue growth across the practice
Do Your Talents Include the Following?
Significant experience in Finance Transformation, Finance Change, or a closely related consulting environment, with a demonstrated track record of owning and delivering complex engagements independently
Deep working knowledge of P2P, O2C, and R2R, with the ability to lead diagnostic, design, and implementation workstreams across each
Proven experience managing senior client relationships at CFO or Finance Director level, with the credibility to challenge and advise at that level

A demonstrable network in the UK Finance Transformation market and evidence of translating relationships into commercial opportunities
Experience owning commercial delivery of engagements including budget management, scope control, and financial reporting to internal stakeholders

Exposure to ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent)
Exposure to AI in Finance projects is advantageous, including use case development and prioritisation, copilot or agentic tool assessment, AI readiness programmes, or AI governance and controls design in a finance context; broader experience with finance automation tools such as RPA and process mining is also relevant

Our people work both in-person in local Protiviti offices and on client sites, which can include local, or UK wide travel based on our projects and client requests and commitments.
