Where We Need You:
Protiviti’s Business Performance Improvement practice specialises in helping organisations enhance operational efficiency, optimise processes, and achieve better financial outcomes. From process tweaks to major organisational structure optimisation, back office to external reporting, cost reduction to working capital issues, we apply innovation, collaboration, and technology acumen to bring best-in-class solutions to your problems.
What You Can Expect:
As a Manager in our Finance Transformation practice, you will lead the design and delivery of advisory engagements across end-to-end finance processes for a diverse client base spanning PE-backed businesses, mid-market and FTSE-listed corporates, and large organisations in financial services, real estate, energy, and professional services.
You will own day-to-day client relationships, manage structured project governance and client workstreams, and develop junior team members through the full project lifecycle. You will also contribute to the growth of the Business Performance Improvement practice through both delivery excellence and business development support. This is a client-facing role with genuine breadth and real scope to develop your career in a high-performing, specialist team.
The work:
You will be involved in both the design and delivery phases of engagements across a range of Finance Transformation projects, including:
Shared services centre (SSC) transitions and outsourcing readiness, including process standardisation, roles and responsibilities design, and go-live support
Finance target operating model design, covering people, process, technology, data, and controls across P2P, O2C, and R2R
Finance process optimisation and efficiency reviews, including current-state diagnostics, gap analysis, and improvement roadmaps
FP&A and performance reporting transformation, including planning process redesign, management information improvement, and budgeting and forecasting optimisation
Automation and technology enablement, including RPA business case development, process mining, and ERP-adjacent transformation
AI in Finance assessments and implementation readiness, including use case identification, data and controls considerations, and the path to an AI-enabled finance function
Finance function benchmarking and maturity assessments against industry best practice
Post-acquisition finance integration and carve-out support, particularly relevant to our PE-backed client base
Key responsibilities:
Delivery and client management
Lead the end-to-end design and delivery of Finance Transformation engagements, managing workstreams, timelines, and quality of output
Manage engagement governance including project plans, status reporting, risk and issue logs, and client steering updates
Serve as the primary day-to-day client contact, building trusted relationships with senior finance stakeholders including CFOs, Finance Directors, and Heads of Shared Services
Facilitate workshops to assess current-state finance processes, identify risks and inefficiencies, and define improvement priorities across people, process, technology, data, and controls
Produce accurate current-state documentation including process flow diagrams, RACI matrices, and gap analyses
Lead the design of target operating models and future-state recommendations across finance functions
Draft and review deliverables including findings reports, roadmaps, and proposals, ensuring outputs are clear, well-structured, and commercially credible
Identify process improvement and automation opportunities and develop practical, implementable recommendations, with evidence of outcomes and results where possible
People and team
Manage and mentor consultants and senior consultants on engagements, providing regular feedback and creating development opportunities
Contribute to the wider BPI team through knowledge sharing, internal practice development, and peer coaching
Business development
Support senior colleagues in identifying and developing new opportunities, contributing to proposals and credentials materials
Identify opportunities to extend Protiviti's scope with existing clients across the broader BPI and firm-wide service offering
Contribute to thought leadership content, white papers, and marketing materials in the Finance Transformation space
Do Your Talents Include the Following?
Demonstrable experience in Finance Transformation, Finance Change, or a closely related consulting or in-house environment; candidates from external or internal audit or financial accounting will also be considered
Solid working knowledge of at least two of P2P, O2C, and R2R, with the ability to identify risks, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities across each
Experience leading or managing small teams or workstreams in a client-facing environment
A track record of identifying and implementing process improvements or technology solutions in a finance context, ideally with evidence of measurable outcomes
Exposure to ERP platforms (SAP, Oracle, or equivalent) and/or finance automation tools such as RPA, process mining, or AI-enabled finance applications is advantageous

ACA, CIMA, or equivalent professional qualification is advantageous but not essential
Strong written communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, well-structured client deliverables independently
Confident presenter and facilitator, comfortable engaging senior client audiences
Able to manage competing priorities across multiple workstreams without losing quality or composure
Experience contributing to proposals, bid responses, or business development materials
Comfortable operating in ambiguous or fast-moving engagement environments with a practical, outcomes-focused approach
Our Workplace and Employment Process
Protiviti practices a hybrid wording model, which is a combination of working in person with purpose and working remotely and is primarily dependent upon the needs of our client. The ratio of remote to in-person requirements varies by client, project, team, and other business factors. The minimum requirement would be two days a week in the office or client site. It can sometimes mean more of a full-time presence at our client. This model creates meaningful experiences for our people and our clients while offering a flexible environment. Our people work both in-person in local Protiviti offices and on client sites, which can include local, or UK wide travel based on our projects and client requests and commitments.
Remuneration and Benefits
Starting salaries are competitive and are based on a full-time equivalent schedule. Placement in the salary range is dependent upon experience, skills and geographic work location.
Employees are eligible for medical and dental insurance cover, life assurance, pension scheme and receive up to 25 days holiday per calendar year. Protiviti also recognises up to 10 paid holidays each calendar year and we have additional benefits as part of the Robert Half Enterprise.
