Protein Works is a market-leading nutrition brand with a clear mission - and the marketing function is genuinely at the centre of growth. This is a new role, which means you'll define it. You'll have direct access to senior decision-makers, a team that moves fast, and a brand with real cut-through in a competitive category.
Protein Works is scaling fast across DTC, paid, and international channels - and AI is now central to how we move. This role owns the build-out and operationalisation of AI across our marketing function: from creative production pipelines to campaign workflows, content automation, and performance tooling.
You won't be experimenting for the sake of it. You'll be shipping systems that make the team faster, leaner, and more effective - with a direct line to output quality and commercial performance.
What You'll Own
- Build and maintain AI-powered workflows across paid media, content, CRM, and creative - reducing manual production time without sacrificing brand quality.
- Own the prompt engineering layer across all marketing use cases: ad copy, product descriptions, email sequences, briefs, and UGC frameworks.
- Integrate AI tooling into the existing martech stack and ensure adoption across the marketing team.
- Identify where AI can improve CAC, creative velocity, or content output - then build it, not just recommend it.
- Own the quality control layer for AI-generated outputs, ensuring everything produced stays on-brand and commercially sharp.
- Lead evaluation and implementation of new AI tools as the landscape evolves - assess, test, deploy.
- Build internal documentation, playbooks, and training so the team can self-serve confidently.
What Success Looks Like
- AI workflows are live, adopted, and measurably reducing time-to-publish for creative and copy.
- Paid creative testing velocity increases without proportional growth in headcount or agency spend.
- Brand consistency is maintained at scale - outputs don't read like they came from a machine.
- The marketing team can brief, produce, and iterate faster because of systems you've built.
- You're proactively flagging new AI capabilities before the business asks for them.
Skills & Experience
Must-Have
- Proven experience building and operationalising AI workflows in a marketing or ecommerce context - not just using tools, but systematising them.
- Strong prompt engineering skills across LLMs (GPT-4, Claude, Gemini) with a track record of production-grade outputs.
- Hands-on with automation platforms: n8n, Make, or Zapier, connected to real marketing use cases.
- Comfortable working across paid, email, content, and creative - you understand the full funnel.
- Able to translate marketing briefs into technical workflows without hand-holding.
- Strong written communication - you'll QA AI outputs, so your own bar needs to be high.
Nice-to-Have
- Experience in a DTC or health/wellness brand environment.
- Familiarity with paid media platforms (Meta, Google) and how AI tooling integrates with creative testing.
- Python or JavaScript skills for custom tooling or API integrations.
- Experience with data pipelines or analytics tooling (GA4, Big Query, etc.).
Behaviours & Traits
- Builder, not recommender - you ship things, you don't deck things.
- Commercially grounded - every workflow you build should connect back to speed, cost, or revenue.
- High standards - you care about output quality, not just output volume.
- Autonomous - you'll identify problems and solve them before they're flagged.
- Curious without being distracted - you stay current on AI developments, but you know what's signal vs. noise.
