We are currently seeking actuarial talent to join a team of actuaries and analysts that provides pricing, product development, financial reporting, modeling and actuarial analysis for Protective Life. For actuarial positions within the Actuarial Program, we aim to develop employees both through completion of actuarial examination and through practical experience. We support employees through the completion of the actuarial examination and credentialing process via competitive paid study time and full coverage of exam expenses (SOA exam fees and exam preparation material). We also provide well-rounded experience via rotations across job functions and product lines. Eligibility for certain aspects of the Actuarial Program vary by position and are dependent upon the employee staying within good standing with the Actuarial Program.
Depending on initial placement in the Actuarial Rotation Program, job duties may include:
- Statutory, GAAP and Tax Valuation of life and annuity products using Polysystems software
- Projections of future earnings and capital using Polysystems software
- Quarterly financial reporting for life and annuity products
- Analysis and verification of results, including performing controls and appropriate documentation
- Integration support for company acquisitions
- Support Polysystems software maintenance, including analyzing impact of changes
- Develop new reporting / analysis tools as necessary
- Collaborate with other actuarial team on cross-functional projects
- Utilize existing and create new analysis/reports, taking advantage of latest technology
- Modeling and analysis of product cash flows and associated risks to support regulatory requirements and strategic business needs
- Support the development of innovative customer-focused offerings in accord with the company's financial goals and risk appetite
- Presenting findings to Pricing Leads in a manner that helps drive business decisions
- Partnering with the Competitive Intel team in analyzing pricing risks & opportunities
- Ensuring suitable documentation of results and processes
- Assist in the creation of meeting documents for senior governance committees
- Active participation in the actuarial student program, with an ongoing focus on self-development
Qualifications:
- BA/BS Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics and/or related major
- Strong work ethic and drive
- Completion of at least two actuarial exams
- Strong spreadsheet and technical skills (i.e. programming / coding)
- Ability to interact professionally and effectively in a team environment
- Ability to manage concurrent deadlines and multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in an actuarial or insurance function (e.g. internship or job experience)
- Technical experience with Excel, SQL, VBA macros, programming languages

Protective’s targeted salary range for this position is $65,000 to $75,000. Actual salaries may vary depending on factors, including but not limited to, job location, skills, and experience. The range listed is just one component of Protective’s total compensation package for employees.
