Protecnium is an international consulting firm specializing in engineering and technical services. We are currently looking for a TBM Surveyor to join our team for a major infrastructure and tunnel project in Tilbury, England, United Kingdom (on-site position).
Project: Tunnel construction project.
Estimated duration of the position: TBM works until December + continuation on additional project activities. In general, when the project ends, we try to place the employee in other projects to give him/her continuity.
Summary: The TBM Surveyor will support tunnelling and associated civil works within a major infrastructure project. The role will initially focus on surface activities including setting out, control points, structural works, temporary works, and general construction surveying. As the project progresses, the position will support tunnel surveying activities related to TBM operations, alignment control, monitoring, and as-built surveys.
Main Responsibilities:
- Carry out survey works for surface activities, structural works, temporary works, and civil construction areas.
- Establish, maintain, and verify site control points, benchmarks, and survey networks.
- Perform setting out for structures, shafts, portals, utilities, foundations, and related construction elements.
- Support tunnel surveying activities, including TBM alignment checks, guidance control, tunnel rings, segment positioning, and excavation progress surveys.
- Conduct as-built surveys and prepare accurate survey records, reports, and drawings.
- Coordinate with engineering, construction, and TBM teams to ensure survey data is delivered accurately and on time.
- Monitor survey tolerances and identify potential deviations or alignment issues.
- Use surveying equipment such as total stations, GPS/GNSS, levels, laser scanners, and related software.
- Ensure survey works comply with project specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Work independently while maintaining clear communication with the survey manager and site team.
Working hours: Monday to Friday – 10-hour shifts (Day Shift / Night Shift rotation may apply depending on project requirements).
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Surveyor in heavy civil, structural, infrastructure, or tunnelling projects.
- Previous experience in tunnel surveying and/or TBM-related works is highly desirable.
- Strong background in structural works and surface construction surveying.
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, coordinates, alignments, survey data, and technical specifications.
- Experience using modern survey instruments and software.
- Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and take responsibility for assigned survey tasks.
- Good communication skills and ability to coordinate with multidisciplinary site teams.
- Willingness to work in tunnelling/construction environments, including shift work if required.
- Commitment to health, safety, quality, and project procedures.
- Valid CSCS Card required.
- UK work permit required.
