Overview
An excellent opportunity for an experienced Purchasing Manager to join a large engineering business that specialise in a range of high-technology electronics. The successful candidate will have a strong background in the purchasing and buying of various electronic and mechanical components. They will also have excellent communication skills and proven experience in negotiation. The role will involve support and scheduling functions as well as mentoring junior buyers.
Regular Responsibilities
- Be responsible for Junior Buyers / understudies - planning their weekly workload and activities
- Monitoring and maintaining stock levels to ensure production can run smoothly
- Regular meetings with other departments to make sure activities and workloads are at optimal levels
- Report any issues or potentially hazardous activity within the team to senior management
- Availability of stock and suppliers lead times to support the company's supply chain and requirements
- Ensuring cost effective and efficient planning, sourcing, buying, and control of the supply chain process in accordance with company procedures
- Ensure goods are to be obtained at the lowest total cost necessary to support departmental objectives, contributing to the overall profitability of the company.
Requirements
- Strong buying / purchasing experience, ideally on a range of electronic and mechanical components
- Ability to support and mentor junior team members
- Excellent negotiation capability
- Strong SAP user experience
- Very strong communication skills
- Previous experience supporting vendor and supplier management strategies
