We are seeking a skilled Grinder to join an established and busy team in the Hemel Hempstead area. You will be responsible for operating grinding machines to shape and smooth rubber surfaces. This is a hands-on role that requires attention to detail and the ability to work with various tools and materials. This is a good opportunity for growth and development for the right person.
Responsibilities:
- Set up and operate grinding machines to grind, sand, or polish rubber surfaces
- Read and interpret blueprints or job orders to determine grinding specifications
- Select and mount grinding wheels on machines according to specifications
- Adjust machine controls to regulate factors such as speed, coolant flow, and depth of cut
- Inspect finished products for defects and ensure conformance to specifications
- Perform basic mathematical calculations to determine dimensions and tolerances
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
Skills:
- Proficiency in using various hand tools and power tools
- Experience working with sheet metal is preferred
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints or technical drawings
