Hours: Monday to Friday
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Assembly & Test Technician to join the Manufacturing team. You will be responsible for taking products through the full manufacturing process, from kitting and mechanical/electrical assembly through to testing, calibration, fault-finding and despatch. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with experience in electronics or electro-mechanical manufacturing who takes pride in producing high-quality work and enjoys solving technical problems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assemble electrical and electronic products, including wiring, mechanical assembly and hand soldering
- Read and follow Work Instructions, test procedures, drawings, schematics and technical documentation
- Pick assembly kits from stock and report any shortages
- Carry out sub-assembly and final product testing
- Perform calibration activities where required
- Verify product functionality, performance and quality prior to release
- Operate and maintain production test equipment, fixtures and bespoke test systems
- Use electronic test equipment including digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, frequency counters, bench power supplies and signal generators
- Record build, test and calibration results accurately
- Support first-off inspections, batch verification and incoming inspection activities
- Diagnose and investigate product test failures and identify root causes
- Identify and report recurring issues affecting production yield
- Work with Engineering and Production Engineering to improve manufacturing processes, test procedures and Work Instructions
- Support the introduction of new products into production
- Pack finished products for despatch to customers and external suppliers
- Support stock checking and maintenance
- Comply with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 quality management systems
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in an electronics or electro-mechanical manufacturing environment
- Good soldering skills, including wiring and electrical/electronic components
- Experience fault-finding electronic assemblies to module level
- Good understanding of electronic circuits and basic test methods
- Experience using multimeters, oscilloscopes and other electronic test equipment
- Ability to accurately follow test procedures and Work Instructions
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation
