We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Business Development Manager to join a growing manufacturing business. You will be responsible for leading the Account Management team, developing long-term customer relationships, driving profitable growth, and identifying new business opportunities. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong technical background and proven sales leadership experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor and develop a team of Account Managers to achieve sales and business objectives.
- Manage and grow existing customer accounts while identifying opportunities for additional business.
- Prepare and oversee quotations for existing and prospective customers, ensuring all opportunities are followed up.
- Manage the contract review process, ensuring customer orders are processed accurately and efficiently.
- Liaise with procurement, production and other internal departments to ensure customer delivery expectations are achieved.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across customer organisations.
- Conduct regular customer business reviews to identify growth opportunities and strengthen partnerships.
- Work alongside the Head of Sales to develop and implement sales strategies that support long-term business growth.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities through market research, lead generation and networking.
- Monitor sales performance against agreed targets and implement actions to achieve or exceed objectives.
Skills & Experience:
- Previous experience in Account Management, Sales or Business Development within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
- Experience leading or developing a sales or account management team.
- Strong technical understanding, ideally within electrical engineering, contract manufacturing or a similar industry.
- Proven success in developing customer relationships and achieving sales targets.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and sound business decision-making ability.
- Excellent organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
- Self-motivated with the ability to identify and develop new business opportunities.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
