Overview
Our client is a well-established manufacturing organisation producing high-precision components for a global customer base. They are currently looking to recruit an experienced CNC Setter Operator to work on CNC horizontal machining centres. This role requires strong machining knowledge, the ability to read engineering drawings, and confidence working in a fast-paced production environment.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a CNC Setter Operator working on horizontal machining centres
- Experience with pallet changers and multi-axis machines (Matsuura experience highly advantageous)
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T
- Competent in setting tools, datums, and offsets
- Experience producing components to tight tolerances using a range of materials
- Proficient in precision measurement and inspection techniques
- Ability to edit CNC programs and make machining adjustments (programming knowledge an advantage)
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Good time management, attention to detail, and commitment to quality
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Responsibilities
- Setting up and operating CNC horizontal machining centres
- Loading programs and verifying machine readiness prior to production
- Selecting, installing, and setting cutting tools, fixtures, and work-holding devices
- Making offset adjustments, tool changes, and minor program edits as required
- Monitoring machine performance and troubleshooting machining or quality issues
- Carrying out in-process inspections to ensure components meet quality standards
- Producing parts in line with engineering specifications and production schedules
- Conducting routine machine maintenance and maintaining a clean, organised work area in line with 5S principles
- Adhering to all company safety, quality, and operational procedures
