Job Description
We are looking for a skilled and experienced CNC Turner to join a high-performance precision manufacturing team in Reading. This role is ideal for a machinist who specialises in CNC lathes and turning centres, with a passion for quality, accuracy, and continuous improvement. You'll be responsible for producing complex turned components to exacting standards, often working to tight tolerances and lead times. This role is on a contract basis.Key Responsibilities: Set, operate, and adjust CNC lathes to machine precision components Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications Load and inspect tooling, set tool offsets, and edit CNC programs at the machine Carry out first-off, in-process, and final inspections using precision measuring equipment (micrometers, gauges, CMMs) Ensure all work meets strict quality and dimensional tolerances Deburr and finish components as required Work to production schedules and optimise cycle times without compromising quality Support sub-assembly processes when necessary Maintain clean, organised workstations and follow health & safety practices Participate in continuous improvement initiatives including lean, 5S, and kaizen Assist in mentoring junior machinists and apprenticesWhat We're Looking For: Recognised engineering apprenticeship or minimum 10 years' experience in a CNC turning role Expert knowledge of CNC lathes (Fanuc, Mazatrol, or similar control systems) Solid understanding of metal cutting principles and machining best practices Strong ability to work from complex engineering drawings Self-sufficient, accurate, and methodical work ethic Able to identify drawing or material issues and escalate appropriately Commitment to lean manufacturing and a right-first-time approach* Reliable, punctual, and safety-conscious team player
Pay Rate: £25-£35 per hourWorking Hours
Monday to Thursday 7am-4pm, Friday 7am-12pm
