We are expanding our team and are looking for a skilled Fire Sprinkler Service & Remedial Engineer to work across commercial, industrial and secure sites. This role offers the opportunity to develop your expertise across a broad range of life-safety systems, take on increasingly complex technical challenges and contribute directly to the reliable operation of systems that protect people and property.
You will carry out servicing, testing, fault finding and remedial repairs while working alongside experienced colleagues and receiving ongoing training and professional development. The role is well suited to an engineer who takes pride in their workmanship, enjoys solving practical problems and wants to progress within a growing business.
The work is varied and includes regular assignments in high-security environments, including prisons. You must therefore be eligible to obtain and maintain the required prison and security clearances.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, test and maintain fire sprinkler systems.
- Diagnose faults, identify defects and recommend appropriate solutions.
- Complete remedial repairs and replace defective components.
- Carry out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance.
- Identify additional remedial works and provide accurate details of the work required.
- Service and maintain sprinkler systems, water mist systems, fire hose reel installations, dry risers and fire hydrant systems.
- Repair sprinkler pipework, valves, pumps, alarms and associated equipment where suitably qualified and competent.
- Test systems in line with relevant standards, regulations and manufacturer requirements.
- Complete service reports, job sheets and electronic records accurately and promptly.
- Communicate professionally with customers, site representatives and other contractors.
- Follow company procedures, risk assessments and health and safety requirements.
- Work independently while maintaining consistently high standards of workmanship.
- Travel to customer sites, including secure, restricted-access and high-security locations.
- Previous experience working as a fire sprinkler service engineer.
- Strong practical knowledge of fire sprinkler systems and associated equipment.
- Proven experience in fault finding and completing remedial repairs.
- Experience servicing and maintaining sprinkler, water mist, fire hose reel, dry riser and fire hydrant installations.
- Ability to work independently, organise workloads and complete jobs efficiently.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
- Ability to obtain and maintain prison and security clearance, including passing all required background checks.
Desirable Experience and Qualifications
- Experience working in prisons, government buildings or other secure facilities.
- Relevant fire sprinkler qualifications, certifications or industry training, CSCS card, NVQ
- Knowledge of BS EN 12845 and other applicable fire protection standards.
- Experience working with sprinkler pumps, tanks, valves and alarm systems.
- Experience identifying additional remedial works and preparing quotations or work recommendations.
