The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Factory Manager to join a leading food manufacturing business operating within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for one of the organisation's largest operational functions, leading a substantial workforce and ensuring the delivery of safety, quality, service, cost and people objectives. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational performance, developing future leaders, embedding continuous improvement initiatives and creating a culture where people can perform at their best.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a large production team, including managers, supervisors and operatives.
- Take ownership of daily, weekly and long-term production performance.
- Develop and implement production strategies aligned to business objectives.
- Drive a strong culture of safety, quality, hygiene and operational excellence.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety, quality and legislative requirements.
- Manage labour, productivity, yield and operational cost performance.
- Analyse operational data and KPI trends to identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives across the factory.
- Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across Technical, Engineering, Supply Chain, Planning and HR.
- Support succession planning and leadership development across the operation.
- Deliver operational budgets and contribute to long-term business planning.
About You
- Proven leadership experience within a large-scale food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Strong track record of leading sizeable production teams through managers and supervisors.
- Experience driving operational improvements, productivity gains and cost reduction programmes.
- Strong understanding of food safety, quality, hygiene and health & safety standards.
- Experience implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Able to build high-performing teams and create a positive, accountable culture.
- Commercially aware with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and managing competing priorities.
