We are working with a well-established food manufacturing business in the East of Edinburgh who are looking to appoint a Technical Supervisor to support the site’s Technical function.
Reporting directly into the Site Technical Lead, this role plays a key part in supporting day-to-day technical operations, maintaining food safety and quality standards, and acting as a visible presence on the factory floor. This is a hands-on position, ideal for someone looking to step up or further develop their career within Technical.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Site Technical Lead and wider Technical team in maintaining food safety, quality and legality across the site
- Day-to-day supervision of technical activities on the factory floor
- Ensure compliance with BRCGS standards, customer codes of practice and internal quality systems
- Carry out and review routine quality checks, GMP audits and hygiene standards
- Support internal audits, customer audits and third-party audits as required
- Assist with investigations into non-conformances, complaints and corrective actions
- Review and maintain technical documentation, specifications and records
- Support training and coaching of production teams on food safety and quality standards
- Act as a key point of contact between Technical and Operations during shifts
About You
- Experience working within a food manufacturing technical or quality role
- Strong understanding of food safety systems including HACCP, GMP and BRC
- Comfortable working in a hands-on, factory-based environment
- Confident communicator, able to work closely with Production and Engineering teams
- Organised, detail-focused and able to manage multiple priorities
- Looking to develop towards a senior technical or management role
- Formal qualification in Food Science, Food Technology or a related discipline
Desirable (but not essential)
- Experience supporting or leading audits
- Previous supervisory or team-lead responsibilities
