A well-established, niche food producer is seeking to appoint a Technologist to join their development team. This position offers the opportunity to focus on either New Product Development (NPD) or Process Development, depending on your skills and career goals.

About the Role

As part of the Development team, you will support the creation and optimisation of ambient food products, ensuring they meet customer expectations, deliver on quality, and are commercially viable. You'll work closely with colleagues across Technical, Operations, and Commercial, contributing to both product innovation and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work from project briefs to develop new ambient food concepts or improve existing recipes and processes.
  • Translate customer insights and market trends into products that align with brand values, budgets, and launch timescales.
  • Prepare and present samples for internal and external taste panels.
  • Support product launches from concept through to factory trials and full production.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with technical and quality standards throughout development.
  • Assist in rationalisation projects to streamline raw materials, improve efficiency, and reduce costs.
  • Build strong relationships with customers and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for innovation and process optimisation.

About You

  • Passion for food, with a genuine interest in new product development and/or manufacturing processes.
  • A Food Science, Food Technology, or related qualification.
  • Experience in a development or technical/development role within food manufacturing.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects at once.
  • Practical, hands-on approach, comfortable working in both kitchen and factory environments.
