The Opportunity

We are recruiting for an experienced Factory Manager to join a leading food manufacturing business operating within a fast-paced, high-volume production environment. This is a senior leadership position with responsibility for one of the organisation's largest operational functions, leading a substantial workforce and ensuring the delivery of safety, quality, service, cost and people objectives. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving operational performance, developing future leaders, embedding continuous improvement initiatives and creating a culture where people can perform at their best.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop a large production team, including managers, supervisors and operatives.
  • Take ownership of daily, weekly and long-term production performance.
  • Develop and implement production strategies aligned to business objectives.
  • Drive a strong culture of safety, quality, hygiene and operational excellence.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety, quality and legislative requirements.
  • Manage labour, productivity, yield and operational cost performance.
  • Analyse operational data and KPI trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Lead continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives across the factory.
  • Build strong relationships with internal stakeholders across Technical, Engineering, Supply Chain, Planning and HR.
  • Support succession planning and leadership development across the operation.
  • Deliver operational budgets and contribute to long-term business planning.

About You

  • Proven leadership experience within a large-scale food manufacturing or FMCG environment.
  • Strong track record of leading sizeable production teams through managers and supervisors.
  • Experience driving operational improvements, productivity gains and cost reduction programmes.
  • Strong understanding of food safety, quality, hygiene and health & safety standards.
  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Able to build high-performing teams and create a positive, accountable culture.
  • Commercially aware with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced environment and managing competing priorities.
