Job Description β Technical Manager (18-Month FTC)
Job Title: Technical Manager
Location: Cranbrook
Contract: Full-time, Fixed-Term (18 months)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8amβ5pm
A food manufacturing business in Kent is seeking a Technical Manager to oversee site-level food safety, compliance, and audit readiness. This is a hands-on role that requires a strong knowledge of food safety systems, customer standards, and site accreditations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and implement the siteβs food safety and quality management system
- Lead and host internal and external audits (BRCGS, customer, and certification bodies)
- Manage site accreditations including BRCGS, HACCP, Lion Code, RSPCA Assured, and ISO14001
- Conduct internal audits, traceability exercises, and root cause investigations
- Coordinate with production, engineering, and warehousing on technical compliance
- Manage supplier approvals and contractor relationships (e.g. labs, pest control)
- Participate in HACCP and Food Defence teams
- Oversee training related to food safety and quality standards
Requirements:
- HACCP Level 3 and Internal Auditor qualification (or equivalent experience)
- Sound working knowledge of BRCGS for Food Safety
- Experience in a technical role within food manufacturing (chilled/fresh/packing preferred)
- Strong organisational and audit-preparation skills
