Most trainee roles ask you to prove yourself first and talk aboutstudy later.

This one starts you on a fully funded AAT with dayrelease, and there is a clear route through to ACA afterwards forpeople who want it.

The firm is a growing accountancy group with a well established Brighton office.

They have expanded quickly by bringing successfullocal practices into the group and then leaving them to get on withwhat they do well, so you get the backing of a national business without losing the feel of a proper local office.

THE ROLE

You will work across accounts, bookkeeping and audit support, whichis the fastest way to work out which part of practice you actually enjoy. Day to day:

  • Bookkeeping for clients using Xero, Sage and Excel, preparing thebooks from source documents
  • Preparing and filing VAT returns
  • Supporting the audit team with file preparation, and joining theteam on client site visits
  • Filing client documents with Companies House
  • Financial administration, including electronic document managementand filing
  • Speaking to clients directly by phone and email about theiraccounting queries
  • Helping out with general office duties and welcoming clients intothe office
  • WHAT THEY ARE LOOKING FOR
  • At least a year's experience inside an accountancy firm
  • Minimum five GCSEs at grade A to C or equivalent, A levels preferred
  • Working knowledge of Xero or Sage, plus Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Genuine attention to detail
  • Comfortable talking to clients, in writing and on the phone

You do not need to have started AAT already. Attitude and reliabilitymatter more here than what you have ticked off so far.
