What do our Graduate Civil Engineers do?
As our Graduate Civil Engineer based in Hastings, you will sit within our Transportation team and work on multi-disciplinary, diverse environments and teams. From our office in the heart of Hastings’ central business district, our team members enjoy all the city has to offer. We give back through our work too by providing technical expertise and ensure that project outcomes in terms of profit, schedule, technical and quality standards, meet both the client and Stantec expectations. We provide the opportunity of development in multiple work streams and the excitement of working on large infrastructure projects.
Day to day tasks include:
- Scoping geometric designs.
- Structural designs of civil structures for infrastructure projects.
- Construction Monitoring.
- Supporting our design and delivery team.
- Understanding traffic engineering multimodal movements and implementing approaches to design for all users.
- Developing an understanding of geometric design and use of software such as Civil 3D, 12D, and Open Roads.
Some key projects that our team have worked on:
- State Highway 51 safety improvements, involving design and construction monitoring of large-scale earthworks, retaining structures and bridges.
- Cyclone Gabrielle emergency response and recovery works for local roads for Hastings District Council and Central Hawkes Bay which includes mitigation of landslides with retaining structures and damaged or collapsed bridges.
- Kainga Ora development in Hastings and Napier which involves geometric designs and three water design and construction monitoring.
